Hi, I am a Raffaella the founder of The Balanced

I believe that each one of us has the power to make choices and transform our life, to stop the suffering and be active in improving our health.

At TBY (The Balanced Yoga), I offer individualised wellness mentoring programs, to helps clients find the root cause of their situation and making successful lasting changes, find-out how to break the cycle that stops achieving satisfaction, well-being and happiness, and thrive in health, life, work and relations.

I teach from my personal, professional experience and specialised training in back problems, nutrition, pain and stress management, which are fundamental part of my coaching method; reaching people that have tried different approaches unsuccessfully, mostly because these approaches don’t consider the whole spectrum of individual situation.

I also offer Yoga classes, Yoga Therapy, Nutrition and life-style coaching based in Ayurveda {Indian medicine science}, Thai massage, Sound Healing and Reiki. As part of my Ayurvedic training I also offer natural products to help with nutrition and health care.

Before having children,  my career has mostly been in aviation, (I also hold a p. pilot license)  managing crew and airline services amongst safety and security responsibilities, a highly stressful and time managing (and jet-lag)  environment. This type of lifestyle together with ongoing problems {such as scoliosis, pregnancy complications, hormonal changes} led me to suffer from back and neck pain, migraines, split abdominal muscles and stress related problems which I successfully managed all naturally. My desire for a pain-free life {and pill free}, a better and healthier me, drove my studies in natural alternative therapies and remedies: Yoga, and Ayurveda has been my lifeline. 

Food is my passion, and I love to use the proprieties of food and spices to heal. You have heard the say: You are what you eat…and how you digest too. Ayurvedic nutrition has been a real eye opener, using food and spices as my medicine, recognising my individual nutritional needs. Ayurveda together with Yoga Therapy, massage and healing; helps me cover all aspects of a person's well-being: mobility, flexibility and fitness, nutrition, health, managing and reducing stress and stress related problems, change of mindset. Once this is taken care, weight too {most people worry about loosing weight} return to normal, symptoms improve and you discover a whole new self.  

I split my time between family (I am a mother of three beautiful boys), learning, teaching, coaching and supporting my community where I live in Guildford (UK) and online. You will find lots of free stuff {Video, recipes, tec.} on my website : and social media. 

Founder and director of The Balanced Yoga studios, I have over 1000 hrs of certified training in Hatha Yoga, Children's Yoga, Advanced Yoga Studies, Yoga Therapy for Chronic Lower Back Pain and Sciatica, Ayurveda Yoga Therapy, Ayurvedic nutrition, Sound Healing, Reiki Master, Thai Yoga Massage, Understanding and Managing Dyslexia, Ayurveda. Currently continuing professional studies in Ayurveda, Yoga and Aromatherapy.

I am not a flexible/sporty person by nature. When young I was diagnosed with scoliosis and after wearing a corset for few years I was told I shouldn't exercise unless it was specific for scoliosis, so I did. I never exercised apart from long walks and some swimming. I never suffered from back pain,  however it all changed after my pregnancies: split abdominal muscles, extra weight and  heavy lifting (my kids) caused recurrent neck and back ache. Few Chiropractor visits helped temporarily, fitness classes including Pilates which is often recomended, didn't.  

I would never consider Yoga, thinking I am not flexible enough! I couldn't touch my knees, never mind my toes, how was I going to do Yoga? However out of curiosity I went to my first yoga class..and I realised my body was not what I remember.

 I didn't like what I had become: I couldn't move like I used to, not even lifting my arms up straight or turn my head fully to the side,  which kind of scared me. After the first Yoga class I remember saying it felt like I had a whole body massage, working on muscles I didn't even know I had and it felt so good!

The popularity of yoga has evolved in many 'advanced' styles that attracts athletic, flexible and competitive people leaving those that aren't {like me} behind.  Hence I have created The Balance Yoga Studios, offering a yoga that is of profound healing, accessible to people wanting to improve their health, in particular those that suffer from back pain.

I am an holistic practitioner passionate about helping others in all ways it is possible, from yoga, to massage, to nutrition and lifestyle. I have created Core Spine Body Balance™ Yoga integrating modern science, anatomy, yoga therapy,  bio-mechanics and physiology to ancient medicine science. Core Spine Body Balance™ Yoga focus on resolving postural problems,  using the body correctly to free up tension, reduce pain and reinstate the natural balance. The deep relaxation with Sound Healing and Yoga Nidra is extremely important in reducing pain and stress. I also use Thai massage technique for adjustment or to release muscle tension. Many people find an improvement and new strength right from the beginning.  I coach and create individual programs combining therapies and life-style recommendations to bring the body and mind back to their natural balance and state of health.
