The Balanced Yoga

Yoga is for all ages and genders, everyone can feel the numerous benefits and I am here to share it. I am an holistic practitioner and I apply modern knowledge in anatomy, yoga therapy,  bio-mechanics and physiology to ancient healing practices and medicine science.  I can adapt the practice to address your specific needs,  even more, I can identify your imbalances and create an holistic program from Yoga practices, to cleansing and diet.

Raffaella truly wishes to reach out and share powerful healing practices with those in need. With more then 1000 hrs of certified training, Raffaella is qualified and experienced in Yoga, Ayurveda, Reiki, Sound Healing, Thai Yoga Massage, Yoga Therapy for Chronic Lower back pain and sciatica, and has personal experience in application of yoga for scoliosis.

About Raffaella

I am not a flexible/sporty person by nature, when young I was diagnosed with scoliosis and after wearing a corset for few years I was told I shouldn't exercise unless it was specific for scoliosis. So I did, I never exercised apart from long walks and some swimming. I never suffered from back pain,  however it all got worse after my pregnancies: split abdominal muscles, extra weight and  heavy lifting (my kids) caused recurrent neck and back ache and I knew I had to do something. Chiropractor helped temporarily, fitness classes didn't.  I would never consider Yoga, thinking I am not flexible enough! I couldn't touch my knees, never mind my toes, how was I going to do Yoga? However out of curiosity I went to my first yoga class..and I realised my body was not what I remember, I didn't like what I had become: I couldn't move like I used to, not even lifting my arms up straight or turn my head fully to the side,  which kind of scared me. After the first Yoga class I remember saying it felt like I had a whole body massage, working on muscles I didn't even know I had and it felt so good! After only few classes I notice a greater range of movements, increased balance, strength and concentration and less backache, which surprised me. The more I practised yoga consistently, the more it improved.

I regained control over the state of my body and yoga gave me confidence that I could get better.

That was the beginning to a better health and sharing my knowledge to help others too.

What is Yoga

Yoga is a mind-body system: improve your fitness levels, increase flexibility, strengthen the whole body, improve breathing.

Yoga practices effect all body systems:

  • nervous system, calming the mind and reduce stress
  •  lymphatic system improving immune system
  • stimulates the digestive system, excretory system, urinary system and exocrine system, helping eliminate toxins from your body.
  • improve circulation reducing high blood pressure and prevention of heart diseases.
  • reproductive system is indirectly stimulated and energetically re-balanced.
  • Yoga balances the endocrine system, hence your hormones. The chakras are directly connected to the endocrine system.
  • Skeletal system, helping re-align the spine and increase bone density, helping preventing osteoporosis.
  • Respiratory system, increasing lung capacity and might help with asthma.
  • muscular system, strengthening and improving its kinesiology.

Ayurveda, Reiki, Thai Massage and Sound Healing

Yoga and Ayurveda {sister science} originated in India more than 5000 years ago as a medicine science, modern medicine, just recently is catching up in understanding and validating the many healing practices. Sound Healing is part of Yoga {Nada Yoga}. Thai Massage has the same roots as Ayurveda and this too was considered a way to cure the body from diseases. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing, it is also based on the chakra system.

Yoga, Ayurveda, Thai Yoga Massage (passive Yoga), Sound Healing and Reiki complement each other for a complete mind-body mind, spiritual and energetic healing system.

Why do it?

Because you will feel better, healthier with less pain and less stress, a step into the right direction in prevention and cure of diseases, a step towards longevity which is the goal of Yoga and Ayurveda.

Registered with professional associations: IYN (Independent Yoga Network), Nama (National Ayurvedic Medicine Association), Reiki Association, CBM, IANLPC and IAHT.

My unique style

  •  I teach with the awareness of how it feels to a back pain sufferer, hence I emphasise on correct alignment, breathing, core strength and body awareness.
  • I use the principle of Vinyasa Krama, a step by step progression. My classes are slow to allow the understanding of movements, the strengthening of the body and progression with each class.
  • I use specific sound to support the practice, Sound bath and Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation.
  • I apply technique I learned from Yoga Therapy for lower back pain, Iyengar Yoga (alignment and props), Ashtanga, core strength Vinyasa and Ayurveda Yoga Therapy. Ayurveda is a natural medicine science covering yoga, nutrition, detoxification practices, treatments and routine to cure and prevent diseases.
  • Thai massage is used during yoga for adjustment or to help releasing muscle tension.

I feel deeply connected to Nada Yoga (Yoga of sound) and Sound Healing Therapy having spend many years studying music, playing instruments and now continuing studying Nada (Sound) Yoga and Healing through the sound.

I specialise in teaching others how to get back in control of their life, helping rebalancing and healing through Yoga, Ayurveda, Ayurvedic Nutrition, Energy healing, Reiki, Sound Healing and Thai Massage.

I offer private consultations, group sessions, retreats, courses and online training and consultations.
