Ayurvedic Morning Routine when you plan to detox

Are you feeling the need to detox and get your health back on track?

A daily routine of mindful activities can be the key to getting the most out of your active cleansing phase (see previous article).

Start your mornings off right with a few simple steps that will help you get the most out of your cleanse.

First, make sure to scrape your tongue and brush your teeth to help keep your oral hygiene in check and to give your body an extra dose of freshness.

Then, administer nasya oil, which is 3-5 drops of oil into each nostril. This helps to open up the nasal passages and assist with the removal of toxins from the body.

Next, sip a large glass of warm water to help flush out any toxins that may be lingering in the system and to help awaken the digestive capacity.

Once the water has been sipped, move on to abhyanga, which is an Ayurvedic self-massage with either organic sesame oil or Dosha specific massage oil. Let the oil soak in for about 20 minutes to get the maximum benefit.

Finally, if you have access to a steam room or sauna, let your oil soak in and sit just long enough to break a sweat. This helps to open up the pores and allow the body to rid itself of any toxins that have built up over time.

Following these steps each morning will help to kick start your day and get the most out of your Ayurvedic cleansing. Not to mention, the extra dose of self-care will help to get you into a mindful and relaxed state, allowing you to make the most out of your day.

For breakfast, freshly prepared grains and kitchari are best for your ayurvedic cleanse adding dosha specific spices and herbs.. Throughout the cleanse, avoid eating leftovers from previous days.

Ayurveda consider freshly prepared foods are the best medicine, as well as a daily routine especially during a cleanse.
